RACHEL
PORTER
Rachel Porter
is research associate at the Vera
Institute of Justice. She conducts research on alternatives
to incarceration and prison-based drug treatment programs. Ms. Porter
is an author of numerous reports including "Alternatives
to Incarceration for Felony Offenders in New York City", "Community
Service for Repeat Misdemeanor Offenders in New York City,"
"Collaborative Evaluations
of Pennsylvanias Drug Involved Parole Violators," "New
York City Alternatives to Incarceration Programs: Special Populations,"
"Community Alternatives for Felony Offenders: A Preliminary Assessment,"
and "A Plan for Evaluating the Displacement Effects of Alternatives
to Incarceration programs in New York City." Ms. Porter has experience
in service delivery and research related to criminal justice alternatives,
drug use, and HIV/AIDS. Ms. Porter has a BA from Columbia
University and has studied at the Mailman
School of Public Health, Columbia University. She is pursuing
a doctorate in sociology.
