PAUL DI DONATO

Paul Di Donato is the executive director of Funders Concerned About AIDS, the only organization in the United States devoted exclusively to mobilizing foundation, corporate and other philanthropic resources and leadership in the domestic and international battle against HIV/AIDS. His other current philanthropic positions are co-chair of the Affinity Group Steering Committee, member of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, panel member of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, and member of the HIV/AIDS Grant Fund Steering Committee of the Global Health Council. His previous experiences include acting director of public policy and director of federal affairs for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, public policy director for the AIDS Legal Referral Panel, and executive and legal director of the National Gay Rights Advocates. In addition, Mr. Di Donato has been an associate with Rosen & Phillips and has lectured various courses on discrimination law and theory (gender, race and sexual orientation) at the New College of Law in San Francisco. In 1985-86 he was a staff attorney for the Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (on a Revson Women’s Law and Public Policy Fellowship, for which he was the first man ever selected as a fellow). Mr. Di Donato’s has written numerous reports dealing with AIDS funding and AIDS and federal health policy, and has edited the various newsletters of Funders Concerned About AIDS, including their regular quarterly one. Mr. Di Donato has a BA in History from the University of Pennsylvania, and a JD from Harvard Law School.
