JAMES PARROTT

James Parrott is the Deputy Director and Chief Economist of the Fiscal Policy Institute (FPI). Parrott also heads FPI’s New York City office. He is the lead author of The State of Working New York, a biennial compendium of data and analysis on economic trends in New York State and New York City. Prior to joining FPI, James was Chief Economist in the Office of the State Deputy Comptroller for New York City (OSDC). Parrott has also served as Chief Economist for the City of New York's economic policy office under Mayor David N. Dinkins, and as Executive Assistant to the President of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union (now UNITE!). He received his B.A. in American Studies from Illinois Wesleyan University and his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
