The Walt Whitman Center for the Culture and Politics of Democracy

The Walt Whitman Center for the Culture and Politics of Democracy is dedicated to sustaining theory and extending democratic practice. It approaches democracy in the spirit of Whitman's ideal of a vigorous citizenry engaged in the culture and politics of a free society--democracy understood as a mode of living rather than a set of strictly political arrangements.
