KAPLAN CENTER FOR NYC AFFAIRS
In
an age when citizens routinely encounter important policy issues
reduced to political sound bites and mass media rhetoric, the
Center for New York City Affairs at the Milano Graduate School
promotes a far more productive kind of civic engagement. The Center
is dedicated to providing the people of New York with a nonpartisan
forum for dialogue and debate about critical urban problems, and
to cross-fertilizing isolated sectors in the local and regional
policymaking field with visionary ideas and innovative solutions.
The
Center's seminars, lectures, workshops and panel discussions engage
top government officials as well as front-line service providers;
business leaders as well as community activists; journalists as
well as citizens from neighborhoods as disparate as Central Harlem,
Far Rockaway and Forest Hills. The Center hosts public dialogues
that move good ideas out into the marketplace and boosts innovation
and reform by convening working groups, organizing private conversations
among key players and providing space for network building.
